As the title states. I am unable to message the moderator that deleted the Post as I am not on the same fed.

According to the modlog STRIKINGdebate2@lemmy.world removed the post, you should be able to message them.

To message someone on another server, go to their profile on your own server in your case: https://lemmy.ca/u/STRIKINGdebate2@lemmy.world, and click “Send Message”. Your message will arrive, but success in getting your post recovered is not guaranteed.

On my instance your post had 203 upvotes in total, so I don’t think you were the only one who found it funny (admins/mods can still see the posts even if they have been marked as deleted). I can see why abortion jokes don’t land all the time, but I also can’t see anything about abortion in the rules. Better keep the abortion jokes down in the future, or try another shitpost community (perhaps !pissposting@lemmy.world is a better fit?).

There are tons of hidden rules across the Lemmyverse (i.e. merely mentioning the word “tankies” gets your post removed from lemmy.ml), with how small the servers and communities are compared to Reddit this stuff is to be expected, to be honest. I wouldn’t take it personally.

Thank you for the info. I can’t log into Lemmy. World from a web browser or my Sync app. According to profile he’s in Ireland and probably asleep or at his age hopefully partying.

I’m just trying to understand these hidden rules. It’s not the first time I’ve bumped up against them and I didn’t think of the abortion angle. I’ll keep this in mind as it’s usually not top of mind for me.

Yeah how each instance and community handles moderation is a little different, both a benefit and curse of the federated model. Lemmy.world is most “Reddit-like” in communities and moderation philosophy.

Be sure to read the community sidebar rules and instance rules you post to if you aren’t sure. Then again, people who break the written or unwritten rules tend to have the stuff removed, warned and then banned only if they don’t knock it off.

So don’t take it too hard on yourself, especially since it seems you understand their reasoning.

As a general tip, when you do actions on other servers using your lemmy.ca account, you stay on lemmy.ca and attach things at the end e.g. https://lemmy.ca/c/memes@sopuli.xyz or https://lemmy.ca/u/admin@beehaw.org. That’s how you maintain your identity without giving away your username/password directly to the other sites.

Thanks bot! ^This is how on Lemmy you can let people on other servers follow links to the same community in a way that start with their server.

Similarly, @rentlar@lemmy.ca is the correct way to do a fediverse-aware mention.

      Ok this works now.

I was about to say I believe you 100% but my browser would like to have a word.

I see that you have manually changed the link to the profile with my instance instead of the one I was sent.

      Here’s where I got hung up. I couldn’t log into Lemmy.world either.

      Thanks again!

Your Lemmy account only works on your own server. You can’t log into lemmy.world with the username and password you have for lemmy.ca. This is why your full username is WashedOver@lemmy.ca: someone else could register WashedOver@lemmy.world or WashedOver@lemmy.ml.

If you want to do anything with your account, you’ll need to do it through the server you’re registered with. In your case, that’s lemmy.ca. You can use the search button in the top right menu to find users and posts, even posts and users originating from other servers.
