You’re completely right, but it’s also highlighted when people on the internet discuss things they know nothing about but decide to become very sarcastic against “the other side.”
smug superiority indeed. many examples in this very thread.

and much more… centralized? But let’s also just ignore the part where it’s described as generally more secure as well.
it doesn’t, but for sure dispels the myth that the US isn’t evil.
Probably not what you’re looking for but Nobara is great.
Does that occur more happen than abusers who don’t care if they are? I don’t know anyone from LTT personally, but I don’t necessarily get the feeling that Linus doesn’t care. To your point, ignorance doesn’t excuse abuse, but I think it’s an important distinction to make regardless.

while I appreciate the attempt to help and provide options, I think your reply largely misses the point of discussing this. Google is going to keep shutting down those options until there aren’t any left, just like Reddit with Libreddit / Safereddit.

why does everyone use Proton Experimental over Proton GE?
I forced BG3 to use Proton GE 8.6 (I think?) and it worked without anything else…
It could possibly be your frontend. What app / webapp are you using for Lemmy?
I was about to sign up until I saw Login with Google.
For what it’s worth, both my girlfriend and I got ours second-hand on Swappa.
Proton is available in many Linux distros, from what I understand, it’s essentially a translation layer that incorporates many tools like WINE. It works pretty well. I am using Manjaro and have it configured with the KDE Plasma desktop environment, which is the same one that’s on the Steam Deck. It’s pretty nifty and handles a good 60-70% of the games that I frequently play.
some here won’t like the idea of a premium, private search engine but Kagi is one of the best tech discoveries I’ve made in a long time. I pay $5/month for 300 searches and always seem to hit the limit at the very end of my month, never payed the 1.5 cents per search after that.
