Well, digital piracy.
But ye olde Black Beard and the modern Somalian type is very much theft.
“Government decides how Government resources are governed.”
…
Yeah, seems pretty reasonable.
Using the lc keyword to find Firefox communities on Lemmy
Your screenshot and the alt text mention ‘lc’ not ‘lg’ as well. Neat add-on but some time spent actually reviewing what you’re publishing would well spent.
Great recipe! I didn’t have any cheese so I substituted for peanut butter, and thought some jelly might go good with it too so I added that in as well. My oven only goes to 1500 so I put it in the freezer instead.
Being able to use Google maps (which is constantly updated, integrated with my contacts, and actually had a UI/UX team design it’s interface) on the tablet sized vehicle display and car stereo system, in addition to whatever music apps, is pretty nice. As well as Google search via steering wheel controls for managing navigation.
Yeah, I could play stuff with Bluetooth or use the integrated GPS system but the quality of audio is noticably worse and the GPS is absolutely shit but nice to have in a pinch.
Honestly idk what other apps integrate with AA, music and directions pretty much do the trick for me.
Community* not sub
Would you consider editing your original post to reflect that :)
Every instance owner should be looking to sign this. Every time you see Meta bullshit posted, please repost this. Also idk how to tag people and I know he’s super busy as of late but calling on Ruud@lemmy.world to get on board with this as well. With the ever growing size of his community it is his responsibility to help us protect the Fediverse.
“i am an instance admin/mod on the fediverse. by signing this pact, i hereby agree to block any instances owned by meta should they pop up on the fediverse. project92 is a real and serious threat to the health and longevity of fedi and must be fought back against at every possible opportunity”
Here’s an example https://www.google.com/robots.txt
Basically it’s a file people put in their root directory of their domain to tell automated web crawlers what sections of the website and what kind of web crawlers are allowed to access their resources.
It isn’t a legally binding thing, more of a courtesy. Some sites may block traffic if they’re detecting the prohibited actions, so it gives your crawlers an idea of what’s okay in order to not get blocked.
Cheating is simply a losing arms race. Client side monitoring may be a deterrent for the lazy cheater but it won’t be enough to stop them. Only thing I see actually being viable is server-side machine learning to detect and monitor anomalies and suspicious behavior. (I don’t know much about this in actual practice and this is just some wild speculation)
Neutral opinion: any opinion can be popular or unpopular if posed to the right (or wrong) audience
Exactly my reaction as well. The only ‘benefit’ she lists that I can truly see is ‘greater visibility into the code everyone else is working on’ but frankly that seems like it could be a burden as well.
Sometimes you don’t need to know. If your team organizes it’s projects and assignments well, you very well may be able to work on your small piece and integrate it without really needing to know every little thing every other person is working on.
With frequent commits branches just seem like an easier way to resolve conflicts as well as speed up the ability for others to test and merge their changes while you can resolve issues with a build.
“I want someone else to pay for hosting and maintaining an instance for me, to admin it and moderate its communities, but when they make a choice I disagree with that’s not okay.”
Well, good thing there’s a way for you to stand up your own instance that you can federate or defederate whatever instances you want.
