I’ve used the ASUS ROG Ally and I do not recommend running Windows on anything, let alone a handheld. Don’t tarnish your Steam Deck with this!

Been using 1Password for 6+ years and I probably won’t use anything else ever. My wife and I both use it and have a shared family vault for things we both use. I couldn’t live without a password manager.

It would make the Ally usable. Windows holds it back a ton because it’s a trash OS.

There’s still some hardware issues to contend with. Like the fact that it fries SD cards due to poor card slot placement… and the control stick bug…

Let’s just say my wife has one and we recently got her a Steam Deck instead. I had to replace one of the sticks on the Ally and still had problems. She also can’t use the SD card slot at all. It’s flawed hardware with potential (after a couple revisions).

What I usually do is change every Steam game to use the “Experimental” version of Proton. As soon as I enable that, basically any game in my library becomes installable. Even non-Steam games can be added in and use Proton iirc. My success rate has been pretty good, but some games are still a little rough (mostly lack of controller support, or things like traversing dumb launchers like in GTA).

I recently moved my ASUS ROG Zephyrus entirely over to Linux and it’s been seamless. I’ve been able to play every game without issue. Between my Steam Deck and the laptop, my console days may be numbered.

When the group with the most control within government at the moment is 1. The most extreme, 2. does not compromise at all, and 3. is pushing to strip rights from people, tell me what the options left are. At this point it’s not even about left vs right or any of that nonsense. It’s about preventing fascism from having a chokehold on the livelihood of the working class.

I’ve been pretty direct about the way I see it. I don’t see how I’ve moved goalposts. Extremism forces us to the most rudimentary set of options: help burn the house down, watch it burn, or try to put it out.

To be clear, I’m not a “vote blue no matter who” dipshit, and I can’t stand conservatives or libertarian types. The US duopoly is to blame for our lack of options, and when fascism has intertwined itself with your country’s leadership in the form of people like Netanyahu getting a standing ovation like Hitler did, options become… limited.

It’s anecdotal but every time I’ve encountered a person that identified as centrist or moderate, they mostly aligned with conservative ideology and were otherwise absent from political participation or opinion. It becomes this thing where they pick and choose based on their own personal privilege because their future isn’t yet being threatened by extremism (which can also be attributed to classical liberalism). This is the unfortunate byproduct of being up against a side that is willing to take everything from people in order to get what they want.

If the alternative is extremism that continues to push right, centrists are doing fuck all for the working class collective. Extremism unfortunately makes that an inescapable reality.

Any time someone says they’re a “moderate” or a centrist, it usually means they will fold to fascism if it serves them, which makes them a right-winger by default. Fuck all of this soft language. You either support human rights, or you don’t. There is no middle ground.

+1 for this comment. I got Stremio setup yesterday based on your post and the recommended add-ons, and it was insanely simple. I was able to get it all setup on my Samsung TV in like ~15 minutes.

Microsoft has become a weird one. On the side of things like GitHub and VSCode, they’ve done really well and have fostered amazing tools. I have friends that work on the developer side of things there and love it. But then you look at Windows and it’s a damn abomination. It’s easily one of the most anti-consumer pieces of software in existence.

Bazzite looks like it’s way more customizable and expanded. I might actually dual boot it out of curiosity.
