Are tech illiterate people intentionally using 3rd party software to change their default browser? Genuinely asking because I have always manually set my default on a new device.

I don’t really see any false advertising. It is explicitly described as exactly what it is.
“An open source, cross-platform Spotify client compatible across multiple platforms utilizing Spotify’s data API and YouTube, Piped.video or JioSaavn as an audio source, eliminating the need for Spotify Premium”
I guess it lacks the suggestion algo but that’s the privacy compromise I guess.
I thought it was saying that the actual tech companies were preparing to get attacked by the drones.
But you said you would disagree with any comment. Therefore, I knew you would disagree with my previous comment.

Not too long ago I found that Home Depot had a product cheaper than Amazon and in stock near me. When I showed up in store, it was more expensive and they would not price match their own website. So I left and ordered it from Amazon for cheaper than the in-store price. I could have gotten it cheaper from the HD website but I was so annoyed with the experience that I didn’t purchase from them.
Same at my Costco. They have 6 or maybe even 9 “self checkouts” and each is manned by an employee who scans everything without removing anything from the cart. Its basically a compact checkout. Recently was in another area and the Costco had true self checkouts with weight sensors messing up and requiring employee overide and all. It was a pain in the ass.
Falling apart after a year? Maybe it was a lemon? What is your use case?
You should give kbin.social a shot. It works better than lemmy currently. I made an account on lemmy.world and kbin.social and end up spending my time on kbin. Even on mobile with no app, I find the user experience better. I am sure it will get better for all instances with time.
