It’s so good. Every season is better than the previous. Watch it!

I just became increasingly attracted to raspy voiced women, honestly.

IMO One of the best Science fiction shows of the last few decades. Each season just got better and better. The quality of writing, the well rounded characters, the budget, the acting… It all went so well. Great shows like this require catching lightning in a bottle, and dang they must’ve had a helluva bottle cuz it’s chock full a’lightning

multi syllable names are for minorities, can’t get the base confused on who to hate vs idolize!

Just going to point out that alcohol is literally a poison people drink to make them feel good. In much the same way that listening to someone who is projected as an authority figure, telling you that everything that’s wrong in your life is someone else’s fault makes your grandpa feel good.

He doesn’t have to feel bad for supporting bad politicians/policies, because they would have worked if not for those damn immigrants.

He doesn’t have to feel bad about voting to deny people abortions because they’re all just drugged up sluts who should be punished with children.

He doesn’t have to feel bad about destroying the environment because science is wrong sometimes(I can’t really condense the rhetoric on denying climate change because it literally makes no sense?).

The reason they watch this stuff is to feel better about themselves. And just like an alcoholic, indulging in performative blame-shifting politics can make you feel good in the short-term, while negatively impacting your life in a million different ways, ultimately resulting in you losing your friends, loved ones, career, and community.

Actually, I was nearly a victim of the same thing, myself. I was in college, and I was lonely. I started listening to Dennis Miller on the radio as I drove to work and school. I liked him, because he was funny, and although he was right-wing and would talk to right-wing guests, he always seemed very tongue-in cheek about it. But As I listened to him, and the programs that sandwiched his, I noticed that I was getting angry. Like, every time I would drive and listen to these programs, I would just sit there, fuming.

Angrily staring out the window, trying to identify the drugged out loser homeless, the rape-crazed migrants, and the godless whore women using abortion as birth control. I’d drive and just… hate… like it was an activity to take part in. Luckily though, I realized it. I was sitting in particularly bad traffic, listening to the radio, and I was just so damned angry.

I was literally glaring at everyone and everything. and it kind of hit me, the question, “why am I so angry? what am I getting out of this?” and I turned it off. It was at this point, that I realized what I listened to had a profound impact on my emotions, and that if I was going to let something I listened to have control over me like that, then I’d at least like it to bring out an emotion I desired. So I started listening to the classical music station. It brought calm, it brought relaxation, it brought pleasure. And I never went back.

I had the same experience. Driving three hours in an Ohio summer in the 90’s meant consistently using the wipers and fluid to get bugs off the windshield. Then in 2013, driving across country, I had to clean my windshield of bugs, a single time. Now? haven’t needed to clean the windshield in years.

I ask my conservative father about these things, he just ignores it. Literally, if it doesn’t fit within his small, hate-filled world-view, then it might as well not exist. If I insist upon a response, he just starts hating me.

It feels as though I’m losing my parents in much the same way dementia would take them. Except it’s not some medical condition, it’s smug assholes in suits profiteering off peddling hate.

but just like being addicted to a drug, we can’t force them to stop. They have to want to change themselves. And if they don’t stop, what, we’re supposed to cut off our whole family? That won’t stop them from continuing to be hateful, but it will stop us from having a meaningful relationship with our loved ones. All we can do is make our values clear when they attempt to bring up any of their hateful BS, and then move onto something else.

This is one of those things I thought would always remain firmly within the realm of science fiction. Watching movies and reading books growing up, movies like “The Matrix” and books like “Snow Crash” and “Neuromancer,” I’d always be fascinated with high tech burglary. The idea that one could intercept communications, jam frequencies, or anything of the like, always just seemed a bit too out of reach for modern day criminals. And yet, here we are.

And usually, there was an awesome professor that would “accidentally” make a free e-version of the textbook available to the class. God I appreciated the hell outta them.

They did an interview with one of the inventors of this technology that’s pretty interesting. He seems to waffle around the idea of whether or not this collection of neurons has consciousness 🤔

This is where Finland and Sweden excel. Because they have mandatory military service, everyone with a gun has been trained in all aspects of it’s use/care. Finland is one of the top 10 countries with the most firearms per civilian, and yet their rate of firearm deaths is minuscule in comparison to the U.S..

At this rate though, I don’t see how any meaningful gun regulation can be passed. The nra stopped universal background checks from being passed after Sandy Hook. I lost faith in republicans since then. They’re bad faith actors, that when faced with the prisoners dilemma, choose suicide.

The other day I couldn’t get my VLOOKUP function to work because the table I was trying to query hadn’t been designated “Table2” but “Table14” because…? Company laptop was dangerously close to putting a small dent in the closest brick wall. Doing this for fun? What?

The focus of the commission’s investigation shifted to the booster rocket O-rings, and the concerns and efforts of McDonald and his engineers to stop the launch which were ignored by NASA officials. McDonald’s comments to the commission led to him temporarily losing his position with Morton Thiokol, being demoted.

The presidential commission was alarmed at Morton Thiokol’s decision to punish McDonald and introduced a joint resolution that threatened to prevent Morton Thiokol from receiving further contracts from NASA. Given the commission’s threat, Morton Thiokol promoted McDonald to vice president and tasked him with improving the rocket joints that failed during Challenger’s launch.

Perhaps the U.S. govt needs to step in again to right the ship at boeing. Well, I’m being coy, of course the U.S. gov’t has to step up and do something. Companies should never be some sacred cow that we’re afraid of upsetting.

Christina Marie Chapman, 49, of Litchfield Park, Arizona, raised $6.8 million in the scheme, federal prosecutors said in an indictment unsealed Thursday. Chapman allegedly funneled the money to North Korea’s Munitions Industry Department, which is involved in key aspects of North Korea’s weapons program, including its development of ballistic missiles.

Part of the alleged scheme involved Chapman and co-conspirators compromising the identities of more than 60 people living in the US and using their personal information to get North Koreans IT jobs across more than 300 US companies.

I’ll go one step further, I’d pay taxes to the government that actually regulates shitty business practices. How is it easier to have a 12% increase in homelessness last year than it is to regulate fucking airbnb? Airbnb is not northrup grumman. It’s not allied steel. it can go the fuck away.

I usually eat holistically, with nutrition coming from whole grain meals, I guess you just blindly go for carb-centric meals 🙄 I also always tip at restaurants, not sure why others wouldn’t…
