I’m not sure about that. I live in a country that is suffering a lot because of tourism. And I’m not very fond of it.
Sometimes I prefer that people would just read our Wikipedia page instead of coming here.
You do you. But other people may have other priorities.
Anyway, how many times have an user to use an AI to even come close to a single commercial plate through the Atlantic? It may be a freaking lot.
You giving away AI, or even forcing all humandkind to do so, might as well do nothing as far as climate change is concerned.
With caddy you can easily set up a local issued certificate for https. It would shine a nice warming on your browser unless you install the CA certificate on the computer you use to visit the site though.
https://caddyserver.com/docs/automatic-https#local-https
This is the easiest way I know how to do it. Caddy takes almost no configuration to get working.
Google ghg emissions in 2023 are 14.3 million metric tons. Which are a ridiculous percentage of global emissions.
Commercial aviation emissions are 935.000 million metric tons by year.
So IDK about plastic straws or google. But really if people stopped flying around so much that would actually make a dent on global emissions.
Don’t get me wrong, google is a piece of shit. But they are not the ones causing climate change, neither is AI technology. Planes, cars, meat industry, offshore production… Those are some of the truly big culprits.
I do not know how regulations come into play. But I’m OK with regulating technology according to its potential (real, not imagined) risk.
What I’m not OK with is with primitivism.
What kind of straw-man fallacy is that?
Please be rational.
Nuclear power keeps lots of people lights on. Same a AI technology is already making lots of people live better. For instance, in my country the IRS equivalent is already using it to successfully detect fiscal fraud.
Does that apply to any other type of technology, or are they just witch hunting?
TubeArchivist with a browser extension to easily download any interesting video I want to preserve.
I have pending to link TubeArchivist to jellyfin for a more convenient frontend for my videos.
Am I missing something with Wireguard? Isn’t it just a open source VPN software?
What’s wrong with it?
As I said I have actually worked a lot in environments with a diverse leftist spectrum.
And in my experience backstabbing usually goes both ways and is a result of the previous hate (and a lot of the time because personal non political issues) not the other way around.
And yes. The only wins I’ve seen is when there have been total cooperation. Division is always the prelude of defeat.
And be ensure that I would be saying exactly the same words to any tankie who talks about “purging any leftist” no matter what their ridiculous arguments are for such a premise. I’ve heard it all and it is often just as untrue.
I’m friends with everyone leftist, even if they hate each other. I can feel comfortable among anarchist, tankies, socdems, new age leftists, reformist, etc. Because I know what our common objective is and I just can’t care about the subtle differences. So I know the anarchist side of the story as well as I know the tankie side.
Being myself an active member of the social movement in my country and actually having watched modern day anarchist working with modern day communists I can say without any doubts that no version is true. Probably both starting arguing about stupid shit, and actual personal problems disguised as political problems, when they should had focused on the real enemy. But anyway I’m thankful for ALL who fought against fascism in Spain, anarchist, communist, republicans… I thank the international brigades, I thank orwell and I thank the soviets and stalinist. They all put their lives on line to stop fascism.
I just despise such an unproductive and harmful division of the left for shit that just does not matter when the true enemy is so big. And sometimes I just see a lust for internal division and eternal losing in such behavior. I don’t know how some leftists have energy left to hate each other after they should had used that energy to fight the true enemy, capitalism and fascism. And I say this for any anarchist who hates tankies and any tankie who hates anarchists. You are not enemies, the enemy is in other direction.
What kind of propaganda are you reading in which sending weapons, planes and officers (while all the other countries did NOTHING) is backstabbing.
Spain democracy lost because the allied powers did not care about us the same way the cared about Poland.
Soviets were the only ones who truly supported the Spanish democracy against the fascist. Every other country, including Poland, turned their back to us while the Luffwaffle was bombing our citizens.
I’m from Spain.
But I know that in Latin America they also used to change the title of some media sometimes. Funny enough they used different titles than in Spain.
For instance, the movie “White Chicks” in Spain is “Dos rubias de pelo en pecho” and in Latin America is “¿Y donde están las rubias?”.
It’s also just two words. Spanish worlds tend to be longer than english ones.
“Muertos” is a direct translation of “dead”.
“Evil” would be “maligno”, but “terroríficamente” was used "which would be like “terrifying”.
Anyway spanish translations used to change a lot the titles of the movies back in the day, most famously “die hard” is “la jungla de cristal” (directly translated as: the glass jungle) here.
I’ve heard that they did this because direct translations or english titles didn’t work as well here, and a change in the title made more people want to watch the movie.
Nowadays this happens way less, most titles are direct translations or use their english title directly.
It works for me. But only for some movies.
For instance “terroríficamente muertos” is the spanish name for “evil dead”. And I can search both titles and jellyfin finds the movie.
I have jellyfin and metadata download set to spanish. It doesn’t seem to work with all movies though. Maybe some movies do include a secondary title in the metadata and that’s what’s being used?
I do self host several AI applications for myself on a low end device and I think for most lowend even mid devices local AI is unfeasible. Nowadays is too much resource heavy and times are too long without high end devices.
For my computer generating a description of a picture (one of the firefox new features) could easily take up to 5-10 minutes with the cpu at 100%. That’s just not viable for doing while browsing.
Anyway I would love for firefox to open source the server side of this. So in case someone have s computer powerful enough they could do it locally if they want to.
My favourite videogame “oddworld” got a remake and I despise it with all my heart.
Since them no remake for me. I’ll just keep enjoying the originals.
I do like it in the sense that people HATE working in customer service. Because people have zero respect and customers make your job day miserable all the time.
Is one of the places where people deserve getting a hallucinating robot as a vengeance for how bad they treated people that worked there.
