carrying a bulky Z fold phone in my pocket only to be able to have a tablet once in a while and watch a movie is not interesting enough.
It suits my needs perfectly though! You can take my folding phone out of my cold dead hands

Is the answer money? I bet it’s money
In addition to the federation issues, make sure your language settings are correct. If you haven’t included both your spoken languages and “Undetermined” in the language settings, then the UI will not display posts for the options you’re missing
My localisation went weird after the last upgrade too. SDDM shows ?? as my locale now, instead of Australia
Offline hours? Is that something that happens often enough to need a work around?
That’s not how it will fail. It will fail because it charges you for things you didn’t intend to purchase
Kinda? My bare bones initial self hosted media streaming setup was put together by my partner. It’s no longer bare bones, because I’ve since upgraded it, added new functionality and I keep it going.
I use digikam with sidecar files on my main photo editing PC.
We sync this directory with a media server on the local network that enables all of the local devices to access the photos and tags. In theory, it means we could run digikam on another device as well, and sync data between them via updates to the sidecar files, but in practice, we don’t do this and the media server is effectively read only.
Then, we sync the media server images with a photoprism instance that we have running on external hosting. Photoprism recognises the keywords and sidecar data from digikam, which lets me search and access the images from anywhere.
I grew up around the Moree/Narrabri area
I can’t think of any such monuments (aside from Anzac ones) in my home town or the nearby towns. But I grew up in NSW, not QLD. I don’t know how they compare
In many towns, the RSL (Returned Servicemans League) was the only place a family could go that was licensed, but also family friendly. And where there is an RSL, there is ANZAC commemoration.
And on ANZAC day itself, most of Australia turns towards military commemoration, because ANZAC
So you’ll be hard pressed finding a town that doesn’t have any military commemoration. But in my experience growing up in country town Australia, outside of the RSLs and ANZAC day, most towns don’t really have much military interest or history.
If you only speak to people with years of experience, how exactly do people develop that experience?
I mean, I’ll just continue to not use Youtube…
Digikam has really strong tagging, searching and workflow tools. So I import to Digikam, sort by quality, reject/approve and tag in Digikam, and I use it to launch specific photos in to darktable for editing.
I use digiKam as the replacement for Lightrooms photo management tools.
I used darktable as a replacement for Lightroom’s photo editing tools.
I use a hosted Photoprism install for making the photos available online, sharing with friends/family etc.
Last time I was applying for work, asking about end of trip facilities was one of my routine questions, and they always had a good answer to it
Oh, that’s good to know!
I’ve been with my current employer for longer than I’ve been cycling to work, so I don’t have any other points of comparison.
It won’t be the norm for workplaces for a long time, but my city also has semi public spaces that offer the same in the CBD. Basically, for a subsidised monthly fee, you have access to the facilities I described above, in a dedicated bike storage space. And that could easily become normalised
That comes down to infrastructure though.
My workplace has a bike storage room, change rooms, showers, irons and lockers, so the problems you’re describing as impractical are quite practical for me.
