That… this doesn’t change anything, because he vetoed it, so it’s not a requirement for anyone?
Yep that’s all true, but they’ll pump it into the ground anyways because “venting nuclear fusion byproducts into the atmosphere” is going to go down really poorly with the “I hate and fear the things I don’t understand” “anti-nuclear” crowd.
The amount of helium produced is truly miniscule, in the order of a few cubic centimeters. They’ll just pump it into the ground somewhere, assuming we ever get fusion working

Glaring flaws in your plan? Latex house paint. Covers 'em right up.
Its incredibly depressing how popular “Creative Writing: The Subreddit” has become.
You know what will cover up that dookie damage? latex house paint. Solves all your problems.
Just pour latex house paint down the drains, whats this baby tier “grease” bullshit.
There was a very fun defcon talk a while back about how easy it is to (among other things) create a convincing set of prosthetic fingerprints from social media posts showing off jewelry or handchecking vapes/guns/knifes/etc.
(Not sure if I’m being whoosh’d, but just in case: “Prior art” is the legal term for a precedent that something was in use prior to being patented, and is the primary means of fighting software patent troll shit like nintendo is trying to pull here)
The development of ACP_196 did use AI for huge portions of the raw sequencing and simulation, for what thats worth…
Microsoft already works on nuclear stewardship + the NIF, how much worse could it possibly be?
Probably they mean the way “AI” is presented to the public / investors. Most things that claim to be “AI” aren’t, they’re just regular boring ol’ software, and even those things that do use AI are usually just using them for one tiny facet that doesn’t actually require them.
There’s potential for some incredible advances in AI right now, but outside of some novelty examples we really haven’t figured out what it’s actually useful for quite yet. It’s one of the more interesting questions in the field.

Well heck, that really is a much better retort. Well said.
Enjoy your sense of smug superiority, I guess…?
At the risk of sounding like the kind of edgelord I was calling out initially: Who?
No, seriously, that show was off the air before I was born. I only know what you’re talking about because of this cliche’d line, I’ve never seen the show or anything. Has there really not been anything in the 23 years since they bulldozed his neighborhood that is wholesome enough to guilt me with? Has society really stagnated that much? Is your sense of decorum only anchored by a largely forgotten children’s television show?
Its basically a template generator, which is really helpful when you’re generating boilerplate. It doesn’t save me much if any time to refactor/fill in that template, but it does save some mental fatigue that I can then spend on much more interesting problems.
It’s a niche tool, but occasionally quite handy. Without leaps forward technically though, it’s never going to become more than that.
