  • A vice president taking over for a president fits this pretty well as thier power comes from the former guy by definition. It’s also supposed to be 42 months, or 3.5 years.

You need the mark for commerce. People without it can’t participate in commerce.

Peter Thiel, JD Vance’s big Techno Fascist backer has a large stake in crypto. There’s an open secret that they want to devalue the dollar to spur crypto adoption. Vance has already said this ‘to spur investment in the US’.

Trump, RFK, and others have been openly calling for the US Treasury Department to start buying cryptocurrency.

The problem with cryptocurrency is that it is worthless. It only has value if you think that it has value. That’s basically how US Money works, but I digress. Tech Evangilists, Crypto Bros, Techno Fascists, they can’t turn their “investment” into fungible currency unless they have a buyer. Here comes the US to “bail out crypto”.

They then convert their profits into other stable goods and signal for devaluation of the dollar. People are “encouraged” to adopt cryptocurrency because suddenly it seems to be more “stable”

As it’s fully digital, you don’t need to cary cash around anymore, not that anyone would accept it because it’s worthless. What’s a good way to process funds from a digital wallet in the real world? Why not a tattoo or RFID tag under the skin of your hand or behind your ear?

  • I ran it about 5 years ago. A friend had trouble getting the Nvidia closed source drivers installed so I spun up an install to get it done. I was able to figure it out. There was an error message that either she didn’t spot or maybe didn’t find a resolution too.

I do like Gentoo primarily because I am a troubleshooter at heart, I just don’t always have the time to deal with a broken system anymore.

I do get tempted to run it on bare metal from time to time. The last time I tried to install it in VirtualBox, it didn’t work out unfortunately.

  • I had never installed Linux before. Back in 2006 my old college roommate told me that he was reading about it. I used Solaris Spark workstations back in college, but never ran Linux before. My other roommate ran Slackware which looked cool but I never looked into it. Anyway I had recently built a custom PC and I was trying to avoid paying the windows tax, and was growing tired of having to reinstall the cracked version I was using of “corporate windows xp” so I pulled up the installation guide, printed it out, and proceeded to install the stage 1 tarball.

It definitely was a trial by fire. I learned a tremendous amount, and I don’t regret any of it.

I even was playing WoW under Cedega.

I did eventually pick up a copy of Windows XP to run in parallels for Linux, and unfortunately, had to give it up for Windows XP as the main os due to Blizzard banning people who were playing Linux at the time.

I miss it sometimes, but I don’t have the free time to properly maintain an install of Gentoo.

I usually run Linux Mint on my VMs and test bench hardware however because it just works.

I ran Arch briefly but my conclusion was that if I wanted Ck and bl torture, I would just main Gentoo again.

When we had cats, I made sure that they were spayed and neutered. But they’re not good for the bird population. They should be kept indoors, not to mention how easily they catch fleas. It had gotten to the point that none of the over the counter solutions worked, and you need to take out a small loan to afford to properly treat them.

Unfettered? No. Feral cats often aren’t cared for and live suffering lives. They have significantly shorter lives. They’re domesticated animals and aren’t suited to life in the wild. We bred that out of them. They fare better than dogs, but they deserve better.

I just buried one that some asshole dropped off near my house. My dog doesn’t do well with cats and I found them scrapping in the yard. I pulled them apart, literally the cat had several claws stuck in my dog’s face. I went out a few times to make sure that it was ok. After about 20 minutes it was gone. Three days later I go out to see my dog barking at the road. It seemed like the cat was back. Either running away from my dog or distracted by her, it lay dead in the road. It has been run over by a car or a truck. Blood everywhere. I put my dog in the house and scooped it up into a bucket and buried it with my shovel.

This wasn’t just some feral cat. It was friendly and had known the love of people. Unfortunately, that love wasn’t enough to do what was right. It deserved better. This happened about a month ago and it still bothers me.

Get your pets spayed and neutered. If you can’t afford to house the results of your irresponsibility, then at least do right by them, and make sure they go to loving homes, instead of dumping them off at someone’s farmhouse in the country.
