Honestly, so long as people keep buying their phones they really don’t care about this kind of stuff. Sure, it was a way to drive up margins for a while, but they will just move onto their next bag of tricks to make it hard to leave.

This can be handled a few different ways.

• You can boot from a HDD and then just not ever write data back to it. This would be the most trivial solution, and it’s something people do with their Pi’s a lot to avoid SD card failure.
• You could network boot, pull the OS from the network at startup. Fun fact, this is how some rockets fly! No onboard persistent storage needed. Everything boots into and runs from ram the whole 10 ish minutes of operation.
• You COULD do a ROM as you suggested, but that’s a LOT of ROM. Seems odd to do imho.

There are many valid problems with the Ukraine and it’s history. There are many conversations one could have about it and what the world should be doing in response to their situation.

The whole “They are Nazis!” argument doesn’t hold water the moment you carry their view point onto something like the US and ask the exact same questions.

That and insane production budgets. A lot of stream services are dumping hundreds of millions into shows that… Really didn’t need that?

Google is trying to add code to it’s chromium software that would functionally allow for DRM between you and a website. It would be a huge blow to your ability to control ads and what software runs on your PC when you connect to a site.

Use forks or other browsers than chrome.

I have for about a decade. I use my phone as my backup map when I am flying. It has to work, every time, without fail. I’ve never owned an android that could hold a candle to an iPhone for software stability.

Bots just repost comments that were popular in the past and get huge amounts of karma, then delete said post before anyone catches on and starts and downvote wave.

That system is gamable and solved.

People are willing to contribute to well run services. Make the contributions manageable for users and they will happy chip in a few dollars here and there.
