I tried playing Stalker SoC, but I can’t get the audio working. Game works fine otherwise. I’m on Arch now, but I think I had the same issue on Mint and got it fixed somehow.
-dsound switches the sound player according to the logs, but still no sound.
Switching out OpenAL.dll didn’t do much either.
Any ideas?
Oh right, atomic distros work differently, didn’t think about that! That is convenient!
If you’re on Arch, then you want those tasty hourly updates om nom nom
source: I use Arch btw
Neat! I was just thinking, if it starts updating the kernel as you turn it off, you’d have to wait a minute for it to finish. M$ style. Has that never happened?
I don’t think the first two are distro specific, more a question of mindset. Unless there are distros that force update your system like some other OSs, which could cause the second picture to happen more often.
My laptop’s mic seems to have some contact issues. It never worked for a second on windows. I put Linux on it, and it usually just works. When it doesn’t, some percussive maintenance does a quick job of fixing it. I guess I was dealt the opposite hand than usual.
Probably that they very obviously are!
A better title might be, “Solutions to newcomers’s most common problems with Linux”
The video is about the results of a survey regarding the problems people are having using Linux. Only 10% of them described themselves as beginners. That would not be a good title.
I personally see zero condescending tone in it. The video doesn’t prove to be toxic like you described either.
IMO this just isn’t a good community for this, because nobody clicks on a 20 minute video to figure out what it has to do with “Linux Gaming”. Plus YT links are almost always downvoted anyways. I agree that the title isn’t the best, because it fails to convey what the video actually contains.
CTRL+face on keyboard. I guess Z got me out, but who knows.
Ah! I would have guessed it could handle that too, with the platform being so popular.
If I absolutely had to watch a tiktok video, I would try giving the link to yt-dlp. That can probably download it.
I have a sneaking suspicion that there is one person at least !unix_surrealism@lemmy.sdf.org
I took it as a chance to weed them out. I went through each one manually and made a choice whether to keep it. Went from ~260 to 130.
I also unsubbed from each so as to make yt unusable, so I wouldn’t be tempted to go there, unless specifically looking for something.
It’s ice cream. Apparently having the three flavours like this is called “Neapolitan ice cream”.
This is part of my new setup ritual right along uBlock, DDG, and more. Shame that this is the best choice we have for a browser.
