When this happens I’m going to invest in making scripts that autodownload stuff ahead of time and I’ll only watch whatever videos are in my home network.

Fuck smart tvs. I only use tvs by plugging in my laptop via hdmi. It’s only a matter of time before smart tvs start reporting people for stuff like watching pirated content or voiding TOS’s with adblockers.

Cinnamon is like classic Gnome but modernized and better. Out of the box, it’s more usable than Gnome 3 even with a lot of extensions.

Night vision. You can remove the ir filter and then buy or make an infared lightbar and get good night vision that way.

They won’t overheat if you don’t put them in an enclosure or case but this makes them more suseptible to damage. I bet a small pc fan blowing through a custom made 3d printed or wood box would be enough to offset it.

I’ve tried to use esp 32 cameras before. First issue, there are no esp32 cameras that either don’t have ir filters or have ir filters that can be removed. I finally found an Amazon seller that doesn’t glue the camera lenses together very thoroughly and once you break them open, the ir filter is in a place that can be removed if you’re patient enough with an exacto knife.

The other major issue is that esp 32s generate so much heat they eventually melt everything I put them in. You can’t leave them naked because even if it doesn’t rain, they still stop working after only a few days of being outside.

I really hope someone else has figured out a better way to use esp 32 cameras for home security because the only other choices are a) those chinese ones that don’t give you control over the rtsp stream (you can only use their spyware infested smartphone app) or b) those absurdly overpriced ones that don’t even come with night vision most of the time.

Computer parts are expensive. My pc specs are more of a downward graph. ddr3 ftw. Am4 b550 stuff isn’t good enough to warrant an upgrade and b650 motherboards with their stupid overpriced ddr5 ram are too expensive to be worth it.

I normally use C++ for making new games or misc projects from scratch but I think I could save myself some work using C#. I’ve done a lot of Rimworld modding and I like the way C# works. I really like how versatile C++ is though. If I want to make my program work on an old Athlon, I can compile with 32 bit and sse1. I would be surprised if it were possible to do that with any C# compiler but I also haven’t researched to find out.

Yep, and right now, the Google pixels are the ones that have an unlockable bootloader and have the most features. Some of the pixels have microphone jacks, making them the only phone I know of that can be used in North America that has both a microphone jack and unlockable bootloader.

We used to be able to use the Exynos Samsungs. It was great. Unlockable bootloader, microphone jack and sdcard. Carriers then fucked us by changing the frequencies so the European Samsungs don’t work anymore. Now you can’t get a phone that has an unlockable bootloader, an sdcard and a microphone jack and also have it work on North America. Shit sucks.

I’ve used ChatGPT for things like generating c linker scripts or writing a bochs configuration file. It would have taken me 30 minutes to research how to make a bochs config file but since I got ChatGPT to shit out something wrong but close to correct, I only had to fill in the incorrect stuff based on common sense and google a few things.
