My favorite part about DVDs is how sometimes they look just fine but the video doesn’t actually play. I got a DVD from the library recently that the video stopped 10 minutes in the first episode and you couldn’t even play or rip past that point either.

Physical media still really sucks in a lot of ways.

That’s because the password is unencrypted.

HTTPS will encrypt the channel and the data in flight, but the data is still unencrypted and anyone with a key that validated (assuming it actually checks for certificate validity) now has access to your unencrypted password. So yes, even over HTTPS it should be considered unencrypted.

Whether or not they’re sending it over an encrypted channel, they’re still sending out an unencrypted password that they have no need for. Linksys has no reason to need the unencrypted password, and at best would only need a hashed password to accomplish whatever business case they’re sending that to solve. We have to assume that they’re also saving it in clear text given how they’re sending it in the clear as well.

No password should ever leave your network unencrypted, no matter the data channel encryption. Anything less is negligence , and the vendor should not be trusted.

Are we back to trusting Seagate again? Last I knew their spinning rust was t trust worthy. I’ve had 6 drives fail me in the last 2 decades, and all but one or two were Seagate, so I just assume their bad anymore and go with other suppliers.

Your first and last statements are correct. Using your password manager as your MFA is a trade off with security and convenience, but that added convenience helps make it more usable so you actually use it. Anything is a trade up for most peoples’ awful password hygiene, so the trade off is worth it in my opinion.

Regarding the advisability of combining password and MFA into one platform: while you are lowering the overall security of your accounts, if you secure the main account with a long/strong password and a hardware security key, I would say that’s still more secure than not having 2FA enabled or not using secure passwords.

So simple, yet so hard for so many to understand.

I have a tailored suit in my closet, but there’s no way in fuck I’m showing up to work in that suit or any other suit.

For one, I work from home and I want to actually be comfortable. For two, if I was going into the office, I would ruin it at some point crawling under desks and behind racks and shit.

I’m using the pixel buds pro right now. The right ear stays in pretty good but the left is completely unpredictable.

I wonder if it’s their manufacturing or something, because I have the same issue with only the left bud.

Unless you’re upper management or going to a wedding/funeral/formal event, why would you even wear a suit? In the last decade I’ve worn my suit 3 or 4 times in the last decade, and they were all weddings or funerals.

Suits are only for special occasions, and even then I’m going to get it dry cleaned and they can worry about ironing in the bastard.

As long as you have your config files and whatever data from the app (both should be mapped from the container to the host), just copy it to the new system and start your container.

I have all my config files on my nas, but too many of my apps run off dbs so I need to figure out a way to backup the local database folder so I can have the actual data on my nas as well as just the configs.

I was just telling my partners yesterday that I knew we were getting old, because all the restaurants we’ve gone to recently are playing music we grew up and came of age listening to. On one hand its nice to hear stuff I actually enjoy listening to. On the other, that just means I can start to feel the stale breath of the reaper on the back of my neck.
