Been gaming on linux for the better part of last couple of decades, can agree its in a muhc better place now and its a rarety to find a title that doesn’t work through proton. There are some but not a massive amount.

Kinda ironic but out of the ones that don’t work for proton, sometimes they work via wine instead

Plex user here, you install app on your receiver (tv/tablet/phone/whatever) and if you so desire you can host local content via plex server running on a machine on your network. Not used it as a home screen though, as i avoid paid players.

If you don’t want to be called there to always it support it, go for off the shelf solution. Both qnap and Synology offer the same. When i looked half a year ago, i saw Synology as being more expensive at the time so went with ts464 qnap.

Qnap do provide a roadmap of support for older devices. So you have an idea how long they will remain supported for.

This would be really nice on something like the pi. As I don’t have a "real2 Linux server, just a desktop that’s my main machine, but its off when not in use. Bit impractical for running this.
