  • The first 2 books, ‘Doughnut’, and ‘When It’s A Jar’, I would normally recommend over ‘The Out-sorcerer’s Apprentice’, they’re more scifi slanted and imo tightly written.

The fundamental technology tying the books together is re-explained in book 3 though and you can figure stuff out without having read books 1 & 2, but it’s probably not going to be quite as funny without all that pained context and layers of multidimensional headfuckery.

  • I’m still heartbroken that Matchland was killed off. It was a really cool turn based match 3 strategy game that involved powering up warriors by connecting tiles for 15 to 30 seconds.
The cool bit was that you could go diagonally too and all the shapes you drew would fire off at once once the timer to draw them was up, so you could get all these huge combos on the board at once if you planned your turn right.

They even killed the cartoon network clone they released of the game too. I really miss them both, it was a really fun well designed game with cute art and music.

  • These days the most expensive hobby of mine is just keeping the fucking lights on. Electricity prices are insane now.

Aside from that though, I really like cooking and experimenting with recipes and flavour profiles, and regularly buy ingredients and fresh vegetables to be able to indulge this.

I go in and out of being deeply obsessed with painting too, so art supplies are taking up the rest of my budget lately.
