Also at least let me compile it myself if not in a repo 😩

Shrimp are pretty rich though, if you eat too much you’ll get sick.
that’s fair, but if the toddler billionaire found a new block to chew on, I hope it at least brings something good to the overall community.
If it brings more people and support to the linux ecosystem I say sure, go for it. If more people start using linux, even a corpo version, over windows, doing a “side-grade” is more palatable than a change as severe for most people going from Windows to a FOSS linux, even if it is still unlikely for the non-technically inclined. It may also improve product/software support for linux in general, meaning everyone using linux already would benefit from a mainstream distro existing.
Assuming of course it isn’t a total trainwreck that tarnishes the reputation of linux, but even then, would broaden the awareness and discourse for linux so maybe not all bad regardless.
My 2 cents anyways.
forget about gaming, start working out, there’s this really great guru I recommend called fitgirl who will really help you repack that six pack.
that’s nyarch or uwubuntu
that’s what I thought
Did you ever see the jump scare manga?
idk if this one does it but I’m sure this was the one.
well it sorta just makes sense, the gui presents it as a folder, you can move things around in it like a folder, conceptually it presents them in a way to make you think they are physical things stored in a physical folder/box. cli it really just feels like you are using a string of characters indicating the desired file, it feels more like a directory that way, even if it always really is that way, just showcased differently in the gui.
brain doing brainy things, strings/lines vs pictures/labels
TBH tho I usually just use recent activity, but having genres, mechanics, and “vibes” helps me find the game I’m in the mood to install and play. Some of the catagories are essentially useless tho as most people who tag games have no clue what certain genre’s actually are, so I have to curate some of these I care about, I have too many games to do it without steam tags though.
Assetto Corsa?
“Of course they don’t stop progress… you’ll just be stuck grinding for way way longer with our patented unfuntm systems unless you pay, peasant valued consumer”
Oh absolutely, and making something creative takes days, weeks, months.
Drama, complaining, conspiracy theorizing, and hate-videos take a few minutes to make more than the video itself lasts.
In case you are unaware… Flashpoint Infinity is an archival project for old internet games that makes sure they are all backed up and playable on modern systems. Give it a spin if you want to quickly relive some old memories.
Fair but you also can’t really judge someone for not using epic and disliking them when they can’t use epic because they won’t support their OS. Also the percentage is growing, steam is supporting and improving, and Epic is going to be far behind when they realize they should have supported linux too.
2nd life into mortgage year one foreclosed because you couldn’t pay :'(
You are totally right about the time, I agree with you there, it did take some time for me to make sure I was ready for an install but once I got it it went super quick and I haven’t had any issues with graphics even though I’m using nvidia. As for the terminal, I’m probably an outlier but I’m totally fine with that and I do have some previous experience from when I was younger messing around in ubuntu that made it easier now even though I’m on a much different distro.
yeah I’ve seen the windows support forums, every official response either misses the point of the question or the answer is straight up wrong.
But moving costs money, switching to linux costs nothing (if you have free cloud storage or a second drive to backup and migrate important data, even then you could get one of those for cheap or free depending on your needs), and with how linux is these days there are distros that are as plug and play as windows for basic tasks that most people do, and a welcoming community and infinite resources to make learning curves small if you want to take on something more advanced. Further than that Linux can be more friendly, allowing easy configuration and GUIs to do things that would require “hacking” to do on windows or third party bloated applications.
I’m on a more advanced distro, but it’s basically easy-mode arch skipping the technical set up stage, and honestly it is not hard to pick up at all, if I did what I did on windows my experience would be roughly the same except I designed my own task bar set up and my PC has been running quieter and more efficiently, everything past that is me tailoring my experience past what a normal user would do.
I tried linux a decade ago and it was sluggish in the UI and didn’t have support for a lot of things but these days it feels 99% to what windows is for me with some extras. It’s time to switch for people on the fence, especially with the rapid enshittification of things.
My moment was using the experimental repos to get an early view into wayland, after seeing it wasn’t quite ready for my system I just switched back. Mistakes made, and slowly over the next few weeks as I updated, the experimental packages never got superseded and updated, until my system crashed and would not pass boot.
Luckily since it is not windows I just used a live usb stick to mount the disk and manually reinstall all the broken system packages. Scary but made me feel pretty confident I could recover the system myself in the future. Also learned a pretty important lesson. Don’t do that, and look at the upgrade log if you do lol, cause the whole time, as I upgraded there was red text showing me all the system packages that were not getting updated.
