Yea sure, you can go and do all that. Im just speaking from my personal experience. There were no experiments, it’s just the behavior I notice from Windows before the device gets the Linux treatment.

Some of these things might just be the usual Windows problems…like with the heat and fan noise. I have seen huge differences in a few machines (x86 tablet/HP laptop/thinkpad) running Linux vs running Windows. The machines running Linux hardly make a peep until you play a game or compile something. On Windows they were hot and noisy af, night and day difference.
He said until EOL. Windows LTSC, the IoT version in particular is supported until 2032.
If you have steam installed as a system app then copy the .desktop file from /usr/share/applications/steam.desktop to your /home/yourusername/.local/share/applications. Once you have the .desktop file in local, edit the desktop file and go down to the first Exec= line and and the -silent switch at the end.
If you like the interface of the steam deck in desktop mode and you are most familiar with Ubuntu, you could try Kubuntu… which is just Ubuntu with the KDE desktop environment like what the deck has. Theres also the KDE Fedora spin. If you do want to go the Arch route you could install EndeavourOS, which is practically arch with a little bit of hand holding to get you on your feet quickly - and to help you learn the ropes.
1337, cmon now!
Yes you should, but you have take your data safety into your own hands. You cannot trust Google, Apple, and other big tech companies. That is not to say that these companies should get away with the things they do, there should be punishment… but that is the reality.
Taking nude pics on any “smart” device is just a bad idea.
Yes definitely as one word like ch as in change then own, same with chroot.
Try Fennec browser, literally Firefox with proprietary parts removed and with access to about:config. Can be found in Fdroid
I very much enjoyed your rant. Would subscribe.
Hey fellow HoTS Linuxer!
Y’all need to get yourselves that Windows 10 2021 LTSC IoT badboy (IoT part is important). It’s supported until 2032 and it’s only bloat is edge. If I had to use windows again it would be that.
You don’t even have to be rooted. RCS won’t work using a non-rooted custom ROM.
I’m not so sure about that, they seem pretty hostile to consumers and employees.
Try setting game to fullscreen windowed
It’s based on it yes, but they use different desktop environments. The desktop mint uses is called Cinnamon.
Mint is good but if you want the best touch screen support with gestures and an automatic on screen keyboard, you will want a distro that is using the gnome desktop environment (it is also android-like). Well known distros that come with this are Fedora Workstation, ZorinOS, and Ubuntu.
Why have you done this?!
You should be able to make docker exempt from early oom. Check it’s github for instructions.
