Thats fair. I saw someone in a different thread saying it’s done to prevent uneducated users (most of them) from phishing attempts, but you should still be able to turn it back on. Hopefully they see the outcry from power users and give the option, I always prefer a KDE philosophy where it should be simple by default powerful when needed.

I agree the option to see the full URL should be there but as a power user myself I dont really care. I haven’t tested it myself, but I assume you can still click in to edit the full URL?

I love the addition of a forwards button because having yo navigate to a separate menu just to go back to the page I accidentally left is a PITA.

  • I believe you can provide your own API code with Infinity if you compile it from source. Other than that your only way to view Reddit other than Reddit is RedLib, which doesn’t offer the ability to log into your RedLib account. Similar to NewPipe where you can subscribe and follow but not interact.

  • If the goal of a DE is to attract users, Vanilla GNOMEs implementation fails to be attractive to most people as it is too foreign from established standards. Extensions are something that are actively not supported officially by GNOME, so using them would not fix the fact that a user expects a minimize, maximize, and close buttons and will not have them on vanilla GNOME, they will not have a Windowed start menu on GNOME, nor a System tray or traditional taskbar. What this user is saying is not “wrong” as they are saying the developers of GNOME want their DE how they want their DE, and people who prefer a more traditional desktop will most likely not like Vanilla GNOME because of that fact.

  • Just out of curiosity what would changing all of my important account logins achieve if the leak was a healthcare provider that doesn’t have anything other than my medical history and insurance card (I never sign up for “patient portals” and the like.)? Not trying to go against what you’re saying as I already do most of what you’re recommending there. In fact I actively avoid 2FA by SMS in favor of Authentication apps (such as Aegis), and use a password manager to randomly generate all my logins.
