Yeah. As long as you don’t make any alterations to the VM like sharing drives for example. If you had enough storage you could also make snapshots on occasion so you have a back up in the event of malware but you wouldn’t likely get malware unless you are opening the files on that VM

On PC you can you use Individious

Check ProtonDB and the PCGamingWiki.

If Proton gives it a good rating or recommends certain fixes try installing the game and running it without them then move onto the fixes.

If it’s an older or obscure game try the PCGamingWiki. A lot of fixes for Windows games work on Linux. For example game that rely on Games For Windows Live (which stopped working years ago) typically require a tweak or two. Normally it’s a file you just drop into the games directory. Lots of installer scripts on Lutris typically utilize a no-CD fix either because they don’t play well with modern operating systems or they know most people don’t have a CD drive.

If none of that works try searching the game with the keywords Linux and Reddit. /r/Linux_Gaming is a fantastic community. They don’t allow piracy but many of the fixes and “Does X game work?” post translate over.

This goes for pretty much all repackers and DRM-free games like I’ve said.

Plenty of games are on GOG and Itch.io and they don’t have DRM.

Keep in mind with some installers such as Fit-Girl you might need to do things like limit the RAM or tweak the settings just for the installer

You should also create a new working directory for each game so you don’t accidentally delete everything by having multiple games installed into one directory

You use Lutris. You can select the executable and run whatever installer then just select the game’s executable and make tweaks as required.

Lots of tweaks can be found by viewing the Lutris install script.

The whole process is like installing the GOG version of a game. You don’t typically use Proton for non Steam games

I would say pursuing a dream isn’t a bad thing as long as your end goal isn’t wealth or fame. If you learn something along the way then it’s likely worth it.

Some gaming consoles rely on the FAT32 file system to play backed up games. I typically use my old drives for that because of the limitations of FAT32 making them impractical for day to day use

It’s the technical issues and general troubles people have adjusting to Lemmy. It doesn’t help that Lemmy and its mobile apps are still rapidly developing.

A lot of people are lazy too. They’ve gotten accustomed to having certain communities available with a single login while they poop.

Lots of people also found the whole Reddit blackout cringy, unjustified, and pointless largely missing the point.

I’d recommend using something Spotiflyer or some program that converts YouTube playlists to MP3 files and iTunes to transfer them

I hate to say it, but I think the relative inaccessibility of Lemmy makes the community wholly better. Reddit’s decline really began when any cunt with shit views could easily download their app, make an account in two seconds, and spew hate all over. Before that, it was just nerds like me who at their computer all day to chat.

Unfortunately I feel like that hate and those shitty views are going to spread here soon. I’ve already seen some people unnecessarily gate keeping over niche topics which is one thing but there’s also hateful communities. I can block them but another always seems to spring up.
