Only thing shocking about this is that it took this long. Any drone capable of carrying a weapon was going to get one. I mean, look at Ukraine right now. Consumer drones with soda bottle improvised explosives and cardboard drones. I can see a future where most warfare is drone vs drone, to see who can hit the other’s supply lines / storage first.

The way Russia’s turtling with illegal mines, drones are basically one of the only ways to attack without taking massive losses while also moving slowly and being sitting ducks for artillery.

Honestly, while I don’t like what these guys do. I definitely think they have some mental illness issues that should be treated, and some of them may be neurodivergent or have some physical issues with their brains or bodies that might make them unhinged that could be possibly treated with medication.

Dead serious here. People this bad generally have been abused / brainwashed when they were young, and some of them seem to have certain disabilities. Not saying they don’t act like total trash, just that there’s probably reasons behind it for at least some of these people. Plus, nowadays there are online cults waiting to pick them up and brainwash them when they’re vulnerable. Used to be you had to go in person to a cult in the past.

Yep, the people who marketed Katanas and Samurai were straight up liars. It was eye-opening to see how much they were shilling. It was the old equivalent of “clickbait” back then, and definitely fake news. I remember reading that they only folded the metal something like 10 times usually because folding it too much would just make the sword brittle.

I was also surprised that Katanas weren’t that strong and couldn’t really be used to block and might snap if used against bone too many times. And could be stopped by stuff like thick wooden armor. It’s why Samurai didn’t carry handheld shields. Since Katanas couldn’t penetrate their armor, they just used parts of the armor to block.

Then again, most swords weren’t useful against strong armor. That’s what spears and hammers / maces were for. The more I learn, the more I realize medieval fantasy (and historical fiction) tropes are so incredibly wrong.

Glad I’m not the only one who thought this. There are definitely big differences, but in some surprising ways, Japan always struck me as being like the England of the east.

I think it’s a smart move. I like my G502, but have learned that ambidextrous mice are more for me. I get soreness if I only use my right hand for mousing all the time.

I was like that when I was young. Now all my plans involve me forcing myself to do 1 or 2 productive things a day besides the stuff I have to do, and then just calling it a day and pushing aside the rest of the stuff I probably should do till tomorrow. Or more realistically, the next weekend or holiday.

I don’t lie to myself anymore, I just admit that if it’s not 100% vital, it won’t get done quick, if at all.

Deadlight, from Tequila Works. I bought it for less than $3 on a whim (might have even been $1) during a Steam Sale on the last day, because “Why not” I thought. Then I actually gave it a shot, and it turned out to be really good. Especially surprising since I don’t normally like side scroller puzzles with action elements. The difficulty was just right, and the forgiving checkpoints did away with the usual frustrations I have with games like this.

To be honest, I’ve always felt like ratings systems needed a “thumbs sideways” option. Like a “meh” or “it’s okay” or even “it’s kind of good, but has flaws that bring it down”.

Youtube for instance really could use a thumbs sideways button. Many sites that show longer form artistic content that could have varying degrees of quality over time could also use it.

With Windows 11 apparently just flat out stealing good stuff from KDE, may as well just use KDE instead. Cinnamon is my #1 desktop UI, but KDE is my #2. Keeps getting better too, based on what I see on KDE Neon.

True, but if you like looking at them and it soothes your stress, that kind of helps. Stress = inflammation after all. Plus, there’s the placebo effect, which is surprisingly effective sometimes.

It’s a farmer thing. It’s about fertilizer. Or it used to be, but then farmers started making jokes while talking about fertilizer, and then they made jokes without the fertilizer… and then it kept going until their city friends started just making jokes, and it leads to where we are today.

Ironically, for old stuff at least, Piracy is the only way it’s reliably preserved. Even if you do want to buy it new to support the creators, oft-times you can’t. It’s because I can’t buy it that I turn to piracy. Not just for old games, but sometimes old comics and manga too. Occasionally Anime that’s no longer licensed or available.

Plus, it’s only going to get worse now, with Streaming services and online platforms delisting anything even that might not make a profit because they don’t want to pay residuals. I’m not big on pirating new releases, but that’s because I think we should support artists. I also think we should call for the creators to be paid more of the profit share vs. the money people at the top who seem to do nothing but fire people and shoot down good ideas to try to make everything the same carbon copy live service.

I also don’t have to pirate new stuff, because it’ll old stuff on sale at half price (or less) soon enough, and with all the bugs fixed and the features added the way it should have been at launch. My backlog is so huge that I won’t have time to go through it anyway before I die. So there’s another reason I don’t care much about new games. If I’m still interested in them a year or more later when they’re on sale and fixed up, I’ll buy it then.

As for stuff like Anime and Manga. Anime subscriptions are surprisingly cheap, and so are monthly manga subs if you know where to look. Viz’s Shounen Jump ($3) Vizmanga ($2), Azuki.co ($5), Mangamo (also $5 last I checked)… so long as you only subscribe to one at a time and rotate, you’ll probably never run out, and it’s a lot cheaper than buying it one volume at a time $10 each or whatever.

Ah, the Windows approach. The few times I worked with PC Repair shops, backing up everything and reinstalling the OS was the go to for most “repairs”. Especially since it was faster and cheaper than just researching all the issues and repairing them the “right” way. Although to be fair, if the OS is borked enough, backup + reinstall IS the right way.
