I’m pretty sure it’s not the same writers for the comics but also yes it is. I know that the Simpsons comics were started by Matt Groening himself because he wanted to explore jokes and stories in a comic book format, I definitely recommend checking out the Bongos Simpsons comics as it is a different continuity that feels closer to the vibe of the earlier episodes since Matt Groening worked on those directly.
