It lasted about two weeks for me, til I got tired of being 1 shot melee’d by people I was shooting at 10 ft in front of me.

Quakeworld had that client prediction figured out for MODEM players 27 years ago. What’s 343’s excuse?

Desync still isn’t fully fixed, although in Nov 2023 they announced stsrting a networking codebase rebuild to try and fix it so maybe in the future it will be.

In 2022 they announced they were putting desync on hold due to other higher priority issues.

This is the same team that said they couldn’t add Slayer at launch because their brand new engine made it too difficult to add

Garbage corporate cultures, garbage products. Garbage products, garbage sales. Garbage excuses for layoffs, garbage trust.

Man, what??? Try caring about fun and releasing a complete product at launch and people will buy the game. Palworld, BG3 and helldivers 2 aren’t pristine examples of completeness, but they aren’t trying to milk the ever living fuck out of their player base and appear to actually give a damn about fun. I’ve been over triple A games for like a decade now because of asshats like this guy, X^2 failed launches, and corporate greed.

It’s funny how corporate equates lack of growth with losses. Bastards.

It’s the result of hiring too much, not the industry not growing. Gaming certainly hasn’t shrunk, these companies just took too much on and are now blaming it on consumers not buying enough.

Not that surprising really. Xbox is a bit of a dead platform seeing as everything is on PC.

It’s an interesting idea they have though to open Xbox up to other storefronts. I honestly think Steam Machines need to make a comeback, with Proton and consoles not being as appealing right now they could actually succeed in a major way.

Allegedly they have their own thing in the works, a la an Xbox in the handheld form factor. Don’t see what they are hoping to achieve with it though. The root problem is a lack of compelling games. Only way I see it going well is if they pull a Surface move and put all the other OEMs to shame with a good end-user experience.

They wanna get Game Pass into as many hands as possible, that’s their goal. All the compelling games are on PC, if PCs can become more accessible, consoles are gonna have it rough long term.
